When Emily Wayborn receives a voicemail from her former best friend and fellow party girl, Amber, Emily is immediately on edge. The message might sound benign to anyone else, but Amber uses a safe word that they always used to get out of sticky situations during their wild days. And what's more chilling than the voicemail: it turns out that Amber has gone missing.  Determined to track down her friend, Emily follows a chain of clues that lead her to the enigmatic Reeve Sallis, an hotelier known for his fiery temper.  Now, in order to find Amber, Emily must seduce Reeve to learn his secrets and discover the whereabouts of her friend. But is Reeve friend or foe? And when they become lovers, will Emily be able to abandon her desire for Reeve in order to save Amber?

MY REVIEW:

This one was a good book.  A 3-1/2 star worthy book.  I was not a huge Emily fan though, but it honestly was a really well written book.  I need to make sure people know though that this is a dark book - not my normal read for sure.  This is a very dark - BDSM - book.  I do not want people reading this book thinking that I have somehow changed my ways in my book choices.  I just was asked to read this and helped an author out.  I also am worried that with all I am reading, I will soon run out of things in my happy genres so I want to try to mix things up a bit.  With that said, I thank those that gave me this book as I am always appreciative when given a book to review.

“The harrowing scene when Reeve and Emily tentatively reveal what they each know about Amber brings a surprising moment of tenderness between the two damaged characters—and the cliffhanger ending sets up an even greater conflict for Book 2. Paige is unflinching in her depiction of a complicated relationship, and the results are explosive.” —Kirkus Reviews

“The dynamic between Reeve and Emily is interesting because their connection is so intimate despite the circumstances of their arrangement. It’s a game of cat-and-mouse that’s carnal, erotic and emotionally raw. Be prepared for a cliffhanger that will leave you desperate for more.” —RT Book Reviews
