Fan The Flames
What do you do when your best friend asks you to take care of his wife? You say yes, like former Navy Seal turned marine rescue firefighter Brad Silverman does when best friend Todd assigns him this mission. After all, nothing will happen, right? But when it does, Brad's got a full time commitment on his hands. Trouble is, he's Mr. Non Commitment. And he's loved Scarlett Harrison ever since they all three went to high school together, although she never noticed him as marrying his best friend proved (Brad stood in as best man). Now widowed, Scarlett has returned to St. Louis with her four year old daughter. Down on her luck, she's trying to jump start her life while living in the house Brad's rehabbed. And Brad's still in love with her. This time, though, he's not going to let her slip away, despite the big secret he's keeping that could tear any future they might have apart. And then there's that pesky fact that he has no idea how to commit.
I liked this one. Not as cliché in my opinion as others. The romance between Scarlett and Brad was more than I expected and that was wonderful. I really felt connected to these characters and loved the story. I also really liked the pace - I felt that it did not drag on and on. Very good book.
I gave this one 4 stars!
