Review: All Lined Up

All Lined Up
All Lined Up by Cora Carmack

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I liked this book. I enjoyed the characters. Especially Dallas as she kind of grew and matured a bit through the story. I also liked Carson - expected him to be a bit more classic jerky on the outside but decent on the inside. I was pleasantly surprised to find he was a sweet guy on the outside as well as on the inside. The conflict as predicatable but written well. A good fun romantic book - perfect for my day sitting my the lake front.

Review: Edge of the Heat

Edge of the Heat
Edge of the Heat by Lisa Ladew

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I liked the story but it was entirely predictable. I enjoyed the complexity of the character's love story. But there are enough of these stories around that they are very predictable.

Review: Very Wicked Things

Very Wicked Things
Very Wicked Things by Ilsa Madden-Mills

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have to admit that I was not thrilled with the male lead in this book before I even read this book as I had a preconceived notion of who he was from book 1. But I changed my mind after reading this. I liked the characters and their relationship. I enjoyed the love and romance that was established. I just loved the story. I however did not enjoy it as much as I did the first one, but what can you do? That happens sometimes, right? I would love to keep reading the stories of the Academy and see how some of the others are actually versus in my head.

Review: Very Bad Things

Very Bad Things
Very Bad Things by Ilsa Madden-Mills

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I truly loved this book. I loved the wickedly flawed characters. I loved the development of the love story. I loved the secondary characters - even the ones we hate in this story. The foreshadowing was excellent and provided a glimpse at what twist would occur but not the full twist.

Review: Nest

Nest
Nest by Esther Ehrlich

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I enjoyed the plot of this book. I feel that this would be very relateable for the middle schoolers it was written for. I thought that she portrayed the characters coping with the life changing diagnosis and after-effects of the that diagnosis very well. I liked the dynamics between the characters - kids and parents as well as kids and kids. I only marked it down a bit because I know from my own kids point of view they don't enjoy books from other time frames.

Review: Until I Die

Until I Die
Until I Die by Amy Plum

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is a sequel to a very good first book. I liked the play on the characters that were expressed. But in this second book, I felt that the story was just being dragged out more and more. And the "cliffhanger" that occurred at the end was very predictable. I was somewhat bored of the new characters that were brought in because you could easily figure out the storyline based on their very early interactions with the key characters. I felt very frustrated by the lack of enthusiasm I felt for these two particular characters. I may read the third book in the series but I am at the moment unsure if I really want to.

Review: If I Stay

If I Stay
If I Stay by Gayle Forman

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I was just inspired to read this book based on the upcoming movie release. I wanted to like this more than I did. I wanted to like the characters more too. I also was bored by the way the story was arranged. The backstory was inter-mixed into the floating current day story and it was somewhat confusing. I now though have no interest in seeing the movie nor continuing on in this series of books.

Review: The Escape

The Escape
The Escape by Mary Balogh

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I liked this book a bunch. I also happen to really like this author on the whole. I found it as predictable as much as any other book in this genre of late. Not predictable in a bad way just after you have read a few of these books, you tend to be able to guess which way it will go. I liked the characters as individuals more than as a couple in actuality. They each had their flaws and they each had their own issues to overcome. The ending was a bit under-thought perhaps as it happened quite quickly without as much thought and drama as the rest of the story.

Review: Die for Me

Die for Me
Die for Me by Amy Plum

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I liked this one a lot. I am anxiously awaiting finishing this review so I can start the next one. It had suspense and love and very enjoyable characters. I also liked that it was a different kind of paranormal character too. If you enjoy a nice romance that is different than most others out there, definitely read this one.

Review: We Were Liars

We Were Liars
We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow! I recently sent in the last five books I had read to The Printer's Row and received a suggestion for my next book to read. They gave me this title. I am so happy they did!!
I was intrigued by the introduction to the family - very Kennedy-esque. We have money. We have our own island. We have secrets. We are Democrats. We have a great family. Then it gets a bit confusing as you are trying to put the pieces together just like the main character is. The journey Cady goes on is heart breaking and amazing. Even with all the adversity involved and everything that happens, I found myself eager to continue reading and experiencing right there with her and the Liars. I was a bit ataken back by the ending - I had an inkling of it but some of the details took me by surprise.
I cannot recommend this book enough!

Review: Opposition

Opposition
Opposition by Jennifer L. Armentrout

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Well, I was nervous about this book coming out. Honestly I was. I feared this was not going to meet my expectations for the outcome of the story. I love Kat and Daemon and their all in relationship. Would they last or would they be broken apart by the tumultous nature of a human and alien love story? Ugh I admit I was very concerned.
But I was not disappointed in the least! I was thrilled when certain things occurred making sure to keep their love near and dear to my heart. (As you can tell I love to be very vague and not give out spoilers)
The all in relationship could be very tricky for a story line. It can be very cheesy and fake if not written properly. This storyline has never failed to suck me in wholeheartedly. I love how pda filled their daily lives are (as someone who craves that and found it, I truly love it). I also really like that they have moments where they want to throttle each other and moments where they are so truly connected it amazes you.
I also enjoyed the other relationships and how they further developed. I have to admit, I was a bit relieved, when I realized that the Beth/Dawson story was touched on and had a bit of emphasis but not a huge devotion to it. I am not a fan of their love story in all honesty - I mean it does work and is believable, just not my favorite like Kat and Daemon.
The excitement for me was all the drama they had to go through this book. Amazing! I had to stay up and finish - which is making for a tough day! Totally worth the lack of sleep believe you me!

Review: Chosen

Chosen
Chosen by Barbara Ellen Brink

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I was excited by the idea of mashing up Amish living with vampires. I should have realized it would not be what I had hoped for. It was pretty tame as books go. Silly characters that you cannot relate to and definitely feel no pull to either really like or really hate them. I was saddened by that - I mean who doesn't love a horrible evil character to hate and loathe? Jael (the main character) could have been better developed I feel. She lacked depth in my opinion. Perhaps all of my issues with this tale which was rather predictable will be eliminated in book 2 but I am truly unsure if I will continue on in this series.
