  EXCERPT FROM RIDE ROUGH:

“What am I going to do? My entire life is wrapped up in him. My job. Where I live. My car. Where Mom lives. Everything. Oh, God. This is going to be a nightmare, isn’t it?” Maverick grasped Alexa’s hands. “One thing at a time. You’re out. You can stay here as long as you need to. I have plenty of room. I’ll help you through it. That’ll give you time to figure out what it is you want. There’s no rush.” “Okay,” she said. “Okay. God, thank you.” A shiver raced over her skin. “You don’t have to thank me. I’m so relieved for you that I might fall the fuck over,” he said, his thumb rubbing over her knuckles. She almost managed a little smile. “Your hands are like ice, Al. I shouldn’t have made you stand her all this time when you’re soaking wet.” Alexa shook her head. “It felt good to get it out, Maverick.” “Glad to hear it. Would a hot shower make you feel better? I can find you a T-shirt and a pair of boxers to change into while your clothes dry.” All the TLC and understanding he was giving her reached right inside her chest. When was the last time someone had taken care of her this way? The last time you were with Maverick. The truth of that thought made her breath catch. “Yeah. I’d like that,” she managed. He gave a tight nod and stepped back, and she missed his heat immediately. “Uh, good. That’s good. You remember your way around?” “Of course,” she said. How much time had she spent here over the years? Even before they dated? At one point, Maverick’s place had practically been a second home. “You okay?” he asked, watching her. She pushed off the door. “I don’t know yet,” she said, coming to him. “But what I do know is how grateful I am to you. For everything. For being there when I told you not to. For listening. For just . . . being you.” “Always.” He crossed his big arms and ducked his chin, like something about the exchange made him uncomfortable. “I mean it,” she said, and then she pressed onto tiptoes and kissed his cheek, his stubble tickling her lips. “You saved me tonight.” “No,” he said, eyes flashing, one brow arched. “You saved yourself, Al. I was just your getaway driver.” Staring into one another’s eyes, the tender moment stretched out, morphed, suddenly flashed hot. Being so close to him set her body on fire, and finally she could actually consider acting on it. Need roared through her, a living, breathing thing. “Maverick,” she whispered. “Fuck, Alexa, I think you better go take that shower,” he said, his jaw ticking. “Now.” She released a shaky breath and nodded. He was right. Of course, he was. So, showering. She could handle that. Afterward, God only knew what she was going to do.

MY REVIEW:

I always enjoy a Laura Kaye book and this particular series is one that I really enjoy.  The loyalty and dedication to the Seven Riders MC is something that could be marveled at in others.  And let me say that the sexual tension is something others should strive to have in their books.  A book that you will truly read in one sitting because you do not want to stop!

And here is my review for you all!

So in actuality I would give this book a 4-1/2 star rating.  It had a lot of what I was looking for in a book.
~ Hot guy - CHECK
~ Strong female - CHECK
~ Connection with the leads - CHECK
~ Hot chemistry - CHECK
~ Everything you want while listening to kids swimming in a pool on Spring Break to take
away from it all - CHECK and CHECK

Every time I read an Erika Kelly book, I am reminded that I love her writing.  The way that she can make you connected and invested in the characters, is amazing.  I appreciate it so much after reading others.  I also love to live through the characters and have the hot romance that they have.  I mean after 5 kiddos, I love my man, but somethings are still in fantasy land for me.  And romance with a Rock star is one of them.

So if you want an awesome romance to really take you away, read this one.  I highly recommend it and anything else by Erika Kelly.

About FIRE IN YOU (Standalone Contemporary Romance Releasing November 28, 2016):
From the # 1 New York Times and International bestselling author comes a richly moving story about heartbreak and guilt, second chances and hope. Full of familiar, fan-favorite characters and no two people more deserving of a happy ending, Fire In You will burn bright beyond the last page…
Jillian Lima’s whole world was destroyed in a span of a few hours. The same night her childhood love, Brock ‘the Beast’ Mitchell, broke her heart, her life was irrevocably altered by the hand of a stranger with a gun. It takes six years to slowly glue together the shattered pieces of her life, but Jillian is finally ready to stop existing in a past full of pain and regret. She takes a job at her father’s martial arts Academy and she’s going out on her first date since a failed relationship that was more yuck than yum. Jillian is determined to start living.
She just never expected Brock to be a part of her life again. But he’s firmly back in her life before she knows it, and not only is he older, he’s impossibly more handsome, more teasing and more everything. And when he sees Jillian, he’s no longer capable of thinking of her as the little girl who was his shadow growing up or the daughter of the man who gave him a second chance at life. He sees the woman who’d always been there for him, the one person who believed in him no matter what.
Brock knows she’s the one he should’ve made his, and what begins as a tentative friendship quickly turns to red-hot chemistry that sparks a flame that burns brighter than lust. Falling for Brock again risks more than her heart, because when the sorrow-filled and guilt-ridden past resurfaces, and a web of lies threatens to rip them apart, the fallout could lay waste to everything they’ve fought to build together, and destroy the dreams of those they care most about.

EXCERPT:

“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me,” I gasped.
Brock’s eyes widened and then he threw back his head, laughing loudly and freely. “Ms. Lima, language.”
My face turned blood red. Did he seriously just say that to me?
Andre’s smile was a bit sly as he eyed the both of us, and I knew—I just knew—he was fully aware of the fact I had no idea Brock was going to be here. Just like my mother had to have known and just like my father had failed to mention.
My family was a bunch of assholes.
“Okay, I’m going to go—uh, pretend to do something,” Andre said.
Brock’s brown eyes were trained on me as he stepped aside and clapped the shorter man on the shoulder.
“Good luck,” Andre said to him, and my hands balled into fists.
The half-grin appeared on Brock’s mouth and he waited until Andre had disappeared. “I don’t think I’ve ever heard you use the word ‘fuck’ before.” His gaze flipped to the ceiling. “Well, there was the one time you tripped over your own feet and banged your knees off the pool deck. Pretty sure you yelled ‘fuck’ then.”
“This is not happening,” I murmured, heart thumping heavily in my chest.
“Actually, I think you yelled ‘fuck’ when your uncle Julio caught you trying to sneak out of the house. You remember that, right? You were trying to follow me—”
“You can stop,” I snapped, “with the walk down Fuck Lane.”
That grin increased, spreading into a full smile that caused my stomach to dip. I placed steadying hands on my desk. “Please tell me I’m dreaming right now.”
“If you were dreaming, I’d hope we’d both have less clothes on.”
“What?” My jaw hit the top of the table. Was he flirting with me? Not entirely surprising. If you looked up “flirt” on the internet, I was sure it had a picture of him grinning the panties right off of some chick, so I guessed a fiancée wasn’t going to change that.
Chuckling, Brock leaned against the door and folded his arms across his broad chest, stretching the material of his white button-down. My gaze dropped. Yep. He was wearing the damn Chucks. “You’re not dreaming, Jillian. I’m the new General Manager and you’re my assistant manager.”
“There is no way,” I said dumbly.
He glanced around, arching a brow. “Is it really that surprising?”
I wanted to scream yes, but I should’ve guessed it the moment I saw Brock Friday night. Anger swept through me. Not only did I feel incredibly stupid for not figuring out Brock was my new boss, I was extremely pissed everyone in my family had basically set me up.
Taking a deep breath, I asked, “Can you give me a second? Please?”
Brock didn’t move for a moment and then he unfolded his arms. “Your wish is my command.”
My fingers curled around the edge of the desk to stop myself from throwing something at him. The moment he stepped out of my office, I hurried to the door and closed it behind him. Storming back to the desk, I pulled my cellphone out of the little slip inside my purse and jabbed my finger on my father’s contact.
He answered on the third ring, his accented voice way too cheery for this time of the morning. “Jillian, my baby girl, are you—”
“Brock is the new General Manager?” I whispered-yelled into the phone.
“You’re at the office already? It’s not even eight-fifteen— Wait, Brock is already there too?” He laughed. “That is surprising.”
“That’s not really important right now.” I took a deep, calming breath. “Brock really is…he’s the GM?”
“I don’t think you really need to ask that question,” he responded. “Especially when you know the answer to it.”
Closing my eyes, I held the phone so tightly I was surprised it didn’t shatter into a million pieces. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Would it have a made a difference?” he asked.
Yes. A thousand times yes, but I didn’t say that. I refused to admit that. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“You’re going to have to ask him that.” There was a pause. “I didn’t offer you this job because I thought you couldn’t handle working with him or that you would be calling me on your first day, thirty minutes before you should even be there.”
Ouch.
“And I’m not saying that to hurt you, hon. You know that. Hurting you is the last thing I’d ever want to do.” There was another gap of silence while I contemplated knocking the computer off my desk with a ninja kick, and then Dad said, “You can do this.”
Then he hung up on me.
What in the hell?

My REVIEW:

Jillian and Brock are a hot couple.  And what would I expect from J Lynn??  They have a history and it is amazing.  J Lynn always likes to have the most diverse and interesting characters that come together due to bizarre circumstances.  And honestly I have not really met any of her characters I did not end up falling for.  And this is not a difference.  They are very likable and very interesting.  Ones that I could totally see me liking in real life.  And she always is able to write realistic drama that you can see happening and understand why it would and how one would react in that circumstance.  Just an awesome book and an awesome writer.

I was extremely lucky to receive this as an advanced reader copy in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Review: Slow Burn

Slow Burn Slow Burn by Pamela Clare
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I always get my hopes up for firemen stories. As a loyal fireman wife who thinks the world of her husband and his profession, I always have high hopes for the "glamorizing love stories" that are written. And I am usually if not always disappointed. This is one was no different. Now by no means does this mean that the book was written bad or the story itself was bad. But honestly, it just never meets the expectations I have in this the age of Chicago Fire.

It had okay characters and a story that was fine. I just did not feel a major connection with any of them nor did I have to continue reading for fear I may miss something. That all being said, the writing was okay as was the characters and their relationships.

I received this story in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Review: This Is Our Song

This Is Our Song This Is Our Song by Samantha Chase
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I enjoyed this one as I always enjoy a Samantha Chase book. She writes well and always seems to keep a traditional romantic novel cleaner than most and endearingly sweet.

These characters were no different and were perfectly written as they were matched. Another strong book by Samantha Chase.

Review: The Invitation

The Invitation The Invitation by Lucy Foley
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This is not a normal pick for me unless it was recommended. I felt that this one just did not hold my interest as much as I would have liked. I did however love the cover of the book. And the writing was just average for me. I had higher hopes on this one.
